This is a tour you can shorten by taking the bus back. There are bus stops in the villages you pass on the way. Walking the asphalt road from Tenteniguada to San Mateo is perhaps not the most stimulating walk you will do. Getting to and from San Mateo by bus from Las Palmas is easy; buses leave every 30 min during the whole day.
